  4. DocViewer

  6. This document explains DocViewer. You can use DocViewer to display and work with other DocViewer documents. You can read a DocViewer document on the screen, search it for specific terms, and print all or part of it. You can display a catalog of contents in several forms and add "bookmarks" for quick access to any part of the document.

  27. • Searching  From the Search menu, choose Find (to locate a term) or Query (for more complex searches).

  29. • Printing  The Print One command prints the visible part of the document. The Print command prints the whole document or a range of pages.

  31. • Display  Use the single-page, facing-pages, and whole-document tools to display different portions of the document. Use the Text-only tool to display the document’s text without formatting or graphics. Click the box for a graphic to display the graphic.

  33. • Resizing  The percentage pop-up menu offers different document sizes (window size does not change).

  35. • Quick access  The Catalog window opens when you open a document. (To open the Catalog window when it's not open, choose Open Catalog from the Outlines menu.) This window shows the names of all open DocViewer documents. You can click the triangle to the left of a document’s name and see the titles of its sections or chapters in outline form. Double-click an item in an outline to go to that place.

  37. • Bookmarks  When you're using DocViewer, you'll see two Bookmark menus: one in the menu bar at the top of your screen, and the second (a pop-up menu) at the top left of the DocViewer document's window. Use the Bookmark menu in the menu bar to mark places in the document for quick reference. The marked places are listed in the Bookmarks pop-up menu. To add a bookmark, first select text at the place you want to mark. Then choose Set from the Bookmark menu in the menu bar. (If you are asked if you want to “bind” the document to the program, click Yes.) Name the bookmark and click Set. The new bookmark name appears in the Bookmarks pop-up menu.

  39. NOTE You can experiment with the menu items in this program. Some commands, such as those in the Navigation menu, offer more options for locating information.
